Grantsville A&E District COVID-19 Message

To Our Communities

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the arts community in drastic ways, as arts organizations and artists of all genres lost vital performance dates over the past 20+ months, losing out on exhibit openings, gallery resources, and more. While we are indeed in a time of recovery, we continue to deal with surges of the virus, stricken volunteers and staff, and ongoing protective standards and rules. We ask that our community understand we are dedicated to supporting our artists while also striving to be as safe as possible in all events, activities, and other efforts.

The Maryland State Arts Council has been active and progressive in attending to the needs of the state's artists and arts organizations, and is offering online assistance to all those who find themselves in uncharted territory. To explore those resources, please go to www.msac.org and click on the link titled “MSAC COVID-19 State of Emergency Statement and Resources.”

The personnel of the Garrett County Arts Council and the Arts & Entertainment Districts of Grantsville and Oakland have continued to work throughout this time and are striving to adjust to the ever-changing COVID-19 situation. Online events and sharing opportunities have been created, such as SEYMOURart.org. Please visit the site!

We do believe that the arts community will not only survive this unprecedented time in history, but is in fact growing in unexpected ways during this period of difficulty. We encourage our community to stay well and safe, and to find inspiration wherever it may lie. The arts will survive, and they in turn will help us survive, just as they always have.
